Poets and harps go together quite nicely

Kelli Russell Agodon, an accomplished poet, and writers of all kinds gathered at the library in Mountlake Terrace this past Saturday to write, to hear poetry read aloud, and to hear music from three harps with different types of strings--gut, wire, and nylon. Each produces a similar yet distinct sound. Not enough so that I could write about it here though I was grateful for the opportunity to hear all three.

I generally don't play music while I write though if I do, it's usually instrumental. If I hear words in a song, I get easily distracted by singing along or trying to learn the lyrics. Not the best if I want to be productive though after listening to harp music for a few hours, I might just add it to the approved list.

If you haven't listened to much harp music, I highly recommend trying out a piece or two on various online sites to get a flavor for what it is all about. If you have an artist ot two that you enjoy, drop me a line and let me know. I'm on the lookout for some good ones.
